Traveling to Casa Divina
Domestic Airlines
Most international flights arrive in San Jose at the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO), but you can also fly into Liberia.
There are 2 domestic airlines that fly from San Jose to Tambor (which is our local airport). Sansa Airlines & Nature Air.
If you arrive into San Jose before 12:30pm then you can fly Sansa Airlines from San Jose into Tambor. The last flight from San Jose to Tambor is at 2pm, which is why if you arrive in San Jose later than 12:30pm you may not have enough time to catch the 2pm Sansa flight.
Nature Air also flies into Tambor but they are located at the Pavas Airport (SYQ) which is in downtown San Jose (about 20 min from SJO). It’s about a $20 taxi ride or you can take the Nature Air shuttle for $8 (shuttle schedule). The last flights out of the Nature Air terminal are also around 2pm.
NOTE: Both airlines have limited luggage allowances so additional fees may be charged.
OPTIONS: If you are unable to make a connecting flight into Tambor then you can either spend a nice evening in San Jose and fly into Tambor the following day on either airline, or we can help you book a private Taxi that will pick you up at the airport and drive you to Casa Divina. Another option is to book a private plane or helicopter to take you into Tambor. The private plane is actually quite affordable!
Private Plane or Helicopter
You can book your own private plane or helicopter to take you from San Jose to Tambor. Here are some of the companies that offer this service:
Private Taxi
If you are flying into Tambor then we can arrange for a taxi to pick you up at Tambor and take you to Casa Divina. The taxi ride will take about 20 – 30 minutes and cost approximately $35 – 40 US.
If you require a private taxi from the San Jose International Airport (SJO) the trip takes around 4.5 hours. Two hours from San Jose to the Ferry, 1.5 hours for the ferry ride, and then another hour to Casa Divina.
Or if you arrive at the Liberia airport, the drive is 3 hours to Casa Divina.
The price for the private taxi is $250 US without gratuity and needs to be paid to the driver in cash upon arrival.
Rental Car
Once you arrive at Casa Divina we HIGHLY recommend that you rent a car. Some of the roads in the area are paved but many are not and can get quite bumpy depending on the time of year so renting a 4×4 will make getting around much easier. Montezuma town centre and beach are a 10 – 15 min drive away from Casa Divina so you’ll want the convenience of having a vehicle to get around in. If you’re up for an adventure you can also rent a car in San Jose at the Airport and drive yourself to Montezuma. This may not be for everyone, but if you’re up for it and are well prepared then it can be an exciting way to see Costa Rica. We recommend Toyota Rent A Car.
